Eye Disease Management at Hazel Family Eyecare

Chronic eye conditions can change slowly, which is why regular medical exams matter. We help patients manage eye diseases like glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration with advanced tools, careful tracking, and clear communication at every step.

Focused Care for Long-Term Eye Health

Dr. Tara Fowler has advanced training in ocular disease and co-management. She completed a post-doctoral residency at Omni Eye Services in Atlanta, where she focused on the diagnosis and medical management of chronic eye conditions. Today, she brings that experience to each exam, helping patients understand what’s happening, what’s changing, and what they can do next.

If you’re living with an eye condition or have risk factors like diabetes, high blood pressure, or family history, we’ll create a care plan built around early detection and education.

Medical vs. Routine Eye Exams

If your visit is focused on a diagnosed condition like glaucoma, AMD, or diabetic retinopathy, it may be billed to your medical insurance rather than your vision plan. This includes exams that involve problem-focused care, specialty imaging, or medication management.

If you’re not sure which kind of appointment is right for you, just ask. We’re happy to walk you through it.
