What to Expect From Cataract Co-Management

Cataracts Explained: From Symptoms to Next Steps

Cataracts develop slowly as the eye’s natural lens becomes cloudy. This can lead to:

  • Blurred or hazy vision

  • Glare and halos, especially at night

  • Difficulty reading or driving

  • Colors that appear dull or faded

  • Frequent changes in your glasses prescription

We monitor these changes and recommend surgery when it becomes harder to do the things you enjoy.

Pre-Surgical Evaluation & Referral

Before surgery, we perform a comprehensive evaluation to:

  • Confirm that cataracts are affecting your vision.

  • Assess overall eye health and prescription stability.

  • Discuss how your vision is impacting your lifestyle.

  • Guide you through intraocular lens (IOL) options.

We’ll refer you to a trusted local cataract surgeon and stay in communication with their team throughout the process.

Post-Operative Care Back at Hazel Family Eyecare

After your procedure, you’ll return to our office for regular follow-up care. We check healing progress, monitor for any issues, and ensure your prescription is stable.

Your surgical care may happen elsewhere, but your recovery happens with a team you already know and trust.

When Is Cataract Surgery Recommended?

We may recommend a surgical consult if you’re experiencing:

  • Increasing glare or trouble driving at night

  • Vision that no longer improves with updated glasses

  • Difficulty reading, cooking, or seeing faces clearly

  • Ongoing vision changes that disrupt daily life

We’ll guide you through the decision with honesty—no pressure, no rush.
